First Presbyterian Church San Marcos

The first project Ami remembers doing in San Marcos, Texas, was the First Presbyterian Church. They called then Feller Roofing because they were having some leaks, most notably in the bell tower. Ami saw hail damage and encouraged them to call their insurance company. The day of the insurance inspection, Ami was training John Hardy (who now owns Divided Sky Roofing & Solar, fun fact!). The adjuster was named O’Dell – Ami and O’Dell also became good friends and this was the first time they met. O’Dell actually helped Ami navigate the flood damage at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wimberley later that same year. The insurance company did cover First Presbyterian’s roof – it was a very steep shingle roof (the church is an A-frame basically). Out of this job we also got to know and love probably our most loyal fan club member of all time, Ed Kuny, who was the facilities manager at the church at the time.

After we did the roof, the bell tower continued to leak. It took us several tries to get that pesky leak, but Ami herself finally got it! She still has every nook and crevice of that structure committed to memory – we wore a pretty good path getting from the ladder, grabbing the side of the tower, and pulling ourselves up to a small area where it was low enough pitch to not tumble off the roof.

Over the years, we’ve done quite a bit of work in San Marcos. Most recently, we have re-roofed several houses in Kissing Tree due to the hail storms – San Marcos really has been a hail hot spot the last 5 years for some reason! We’ve met so many wonderful people in the community and have really grown to love it.

Our favorite restaurants on days we are there include Herbert’s, Chuy’s (although we FINALLY got our own in New Braunfels), Palmer’s (when we can get in) and the Blue Dahlia.

If you are in need of roofing services in San Marcos, Texas, we would love to look at your project!

At Roofer Chicks, we are committed to doing the right thing, even when it doesn’t benefit us. We believe that integrity is far more important than making a quick buck at someone else’s expense!
