Honesty with the Insurance Company in Wimberley
Not knowing what to think, Donna called Roofer Chicks. She had heard that we were an honest, reputable company, and she wanted someone who would shoot her straight. Ami and Patrick came out and looked at the roof – we agreed with the contractor – there was very, very little damage to her roof (we found one hail hit). The insurance company valued her roof at $15,600. Now, Donna had a very, very nice roof. It was worth a lot more than that!!!!!

We went to the insurance company with a corrected scope of work – they had only paid her for 25-year shingles and she had architectural shingles, they had shorted her on her drip edge, they had not paid for valley metal or given her any steep charges. We actually told her insurance company there was no damage to her roof, and they could reverse the claim, but they refused to do so. When we told the insurance desk adjuster this, he was actually speechless – he had never had a contractor be that honest!!!! They finally adjusted the claim to $18,900 – a 21% increase and much more representative of the roof that Donna actually had.
It was all unfortunate for Donna because she was having health issues and had such a large deductible – the insurance company did not do her any favors by totaling a roof that had nothing wrong with it. We got her into a roof that works for her for a price she could afford – we can’t do this with every customer, but because her roof was so new, there was not any depreciation being held back, which gave her a lot of flexibility.
At Roofer Chicks, we are committed to doing the right thing, even when it doesn’t benefit us. We believe that integrity is far more important than making a quick buck at someone else’s expense!
