We first visited Jerry and Roger’s house in New Braunfels, Texas, in 2016. Roger called us out to take a look at the GAF Timberline HD roof. Ami was his sales person, and she told him that his roof had a lot of life left in it – to call us back in 7-8 years and we’d look at replacing the roof. In 2017 we redid a hot water vent pipe that had been installed incorrectly that ended up leaking.
Fast forward to 2024 – Roger called the office and told Carol that he was ready to have Ami come back out and quote his roof replacement. In 2024, Ami was no longer doing sales, but she agreed to come out and look at Roger’s roof since she was the original sales person. Ami and Roger both share roots in Iowa, and come to find out, they both have spent a lot in Paducah, Kentucky!
At this point, their roof definitely needed to be replaced. It was time. BUT Ami noticed that even though their house is not necessarily located in a hail hot spot in New Braunfels (near County Line Rd), they definitely had damage. As roof shingles age, they become more brittle, and that means that even smaller hail can start to damage shingles. She recommended they call their insurance company. We met State Farm at the location and they felt like the damages were mostly due to normal wear and tear.
Roger didn’t want to get into a long argument with his insurance company. He and Jerry were okay with coming out of pocket and replacing the roof, but they wanted one that would last for years to come. Ami recommended choosing the Malarkey Vista which is a class IV shingle with a lifetime rating. State Farm is super happy with this as well.
